Some 45 people will participate in this recording, including women and men, all of them members of the choir. The works will be performed in four voices, accompanied by a string Rondalla (bandurrias, lutes, guitars, double bass), as well as traditional percussion instruments such as zambomba, bottle, güiro, tambourines, rattles, almirez or triangle. All this under the direction of Mr. José María Muñoz Manso, guitar teacher and current Director of the Municipal School of Music, Dance, Plastic and Performing Arts «Maestro Fermín Franco Utrera» of Tarifa. The Tarifa Choir commemorated in 2013 its fortieth anniversary, organizing several cultural events and concerts. In addition, it has been distinguished with several awards throughout its history, such as, for example, with the Prize for Culture that was awarded in 1995 by the Association «Tarifa La Voz de un Pueblo»; or with the Diploma of Honor for Cultural Dissemination awarded by the Excmo. Tarifa Town Hall in the year 2011.
As of today we are pleased to announce another of the productions that we are starting soon, the fourth recording project of the Coral y Rondalla de Tarifa, which will record live a discographic work dedicated to its former director, Mr. Fermín Franco, as a tribute and recognition to his figure and his musical work. As a composer, Fermín Franco has recorded 140 works including carols, processional marches and other themes, highlighting his composition of the Hymn of the Canonical Coronation of the Virgen de la Luz. In addition, since 1990 he was director of the Municipal Academy of Music, being named by the City Council of Tarifa Favorite Son of the City in 2008.
